Thank you for your interest in joining the Dunkeld East Piscatorial Society. Please complete the form below to apply for membership. By signing, you agree to abide by all DEPS rules and regulations.

  1. MEMBERSHIP
    1. 1.1 Membership choice

      The following membership options are available:

    2. 1.2 Acceptance of Rules and Regulations

      By signing this form, you agree to the following terms and conditions in addition to the DEPS’ rules and regulations provided to you:

      • Permit and identification: I understand that as a member, I must carry valid DEPS identification at all times while fishing on the estate.
      • Exclusive fishing rights: I acknowledge that members have exclusive fishing rights to the Main Dam, Ingifell Dam, Poplar Dam, Midway Dam, and designated sections of the river up to the bridge, under "catch and release" rules.
      • Catch and release and catch and keep systems: I agree to adhere to the "catch and release" system in member-only areas and follow the "catch and keep" rules if fishing in additional dams designated for both members and day permit holders.
      • Environmental responsibility: I agree to respect other anglers, wildlife, and the environment, and will dispose of any litter in designated bins.
      • Adherence to DEPS rules and regulaations: I confirm that I have read, understood, and accepted the DEPS fishing rules and regulations. I understand that violations of these rules may result in suspension, fines, or revocation of membership.
  2. INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

    I, the undersigned, hereby indemnify and hold harmless Dunkeld East Piscatorial Society (DEPS), its employees, agents, and management from any claim, damage, or liability that may arise from my activities on the estate. I acknowledge that I am responsible for my own safety and actions while on DEPS property and that DEPS bears no liability for injuries, losses, or damages incurred during my participation in fishing activities.

    RULES & REGULATIONS FOR MEMBERS

    For the safety, enjoyment, and preservation of our fishing environment, all members must read and adhere to the following rules:

  4. MEMBERS FISHING RULES
    • Members must carry valid DEPS fishing identification while fishing on Dunkeld East’s estate property.
    • Members must sign in and out at each fishing session and record their catches. This can be done at on-site Reception.
    1. 4.2 Exclusive Fishing Rights

      Members have exclusive access to the following areas (Catch and Release Dams):

      • Ingifell Dam;
      • Poplar Dam;
      • Midway Dam; and
      • the river up to the bridge.
    2. 4.3 Additional Fishable Dams

      Members may fish in the following dams (Catch and Keep Dams) at no additional cost but must adhere to the "catch and keep" rules:

      • Little Pig;
      • Oxbow;
      • Willow;
      • Dabchick;
      • Loch Hagen; and
      • Loch Earn.

      3. When fishing these dams, members must pay for any fish kept. The same rules apply to daily permit holders in these areas.

  5. EQUIPMENT AND GEAR
    1. 5.1 Approved Equipment for Different Programmes
      • Catch and Release Dams: Only traditional English fly-fishing tackle is allowed, including trout rods, centre pin reels, artificial flies, knotless landing nets, and barbless hooks.
      • Catch and Keep Dams: Spinning reels, bait rods, and lures may be used in designated Catch and Keep Dams.
      • Float tubing is only permitted on Ingifell Dam (top dam) with a maximum of ten tubers per day.
    2. 5.2 Equipment and gear inspections
      • The bailiff reserves the right to inspect fishing equipment to ensure compliance with DEPS rules and will report any misconduct to management.
      • All fishing equipment, particularly nets and waders, must be thoroughly cleaned before use on the property to prevent the spread of invasive species or diseases harmful to local fish populations.
  6. FISH HANDLING AND CONSERVATION
    • Fish should remain in the water when landed. Avoid exhausting the fish and allow larger fish/trophy size fish to recover in the net for 5-10 minutes before handling. Always wet your hands before handling fish.
    • Fish caught in Catch and Keep Dams should culled after landing the fish. The fish should then be taken to the abattoir for processing, packaging, and payment. No fish gutting is allowed at the dams or river; it must be done at the abattoir.
    • Fishing quotas may be imposed on Catch and Keep Dams and Catch and Release Dams as needed for conservation. Members will be notified of any changes in quotas or restrictions.
  7. BEHAVIOUR AND CONDUCT
    • Avoid crowding other anglers and respect other fisherman’s space.
    • Dispose of litter in the provided bins, and respect estate flora and fauna.
    • Disturbing wildlife or feeding animals is prohibited to maintain the natural balance.
    • Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests, who must adhere to all DEPS rules.
    • Children under the age of 10 may only fish when supervised by an adult.
    • Excessive drinking or use of substances that impair judgment or safety while fishing is strictly prohibited. Members are expected to conduct themselves responsibly.
  8. SAFETY RULES AND LIABILITY
    • Fishing is permitted from sunrise to sunset only.
    • All fishing activities are conducted at the member's own risk.
    • Members should familiarise themselves with emergency contact points. In case of injury, animal encounter, or equipment failure, contact the bailiff or management immediately.
    • Members with any contagious illness that may pose a risk to others are requested to refrain from fishing until they have fully recovered.
  9. ESTATE POLICIES AND PROHIBITIONS

    The following activities are strictly prohibited:

    • Open fires or braais.
    • Firearms without explicit permission.
    • Loud radios or similar devices.
    • Swimming in the dams.
    • Driving and parking at dam locations are not allowed; please use designated parking areas.
  10. ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

    Members are encouraged to use biodegradable materials whenever possible, especially for leaders, weights, and other disposable items. Avoid using items that may harm fish or the environment.

  11. TAG IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM
    • Green – public guests
    • Yellow – bailiffs or scouts
    • Blue – members
  12. FEES AND PAYMENTS
    • All fish kept must be weighed and cleaned at the advertised rate per kilogram at the abattoir. Any fish found in possession without payment will be considered poached and treated as a criminal offence.
    • A R20 conservancy fee will be included in the annual membership fee to support estate wildlife and conservation efforts, including food provisions for wildlife.
    • DEPS reserves the right to adjust fees related to permits, fish processing, and conservation efforts. Members will be informed of any changes in advance.
  13. SEASONAL CLOSURES

    DEPS reserves the right to temporarily close certain fishing areas for conservation, water quality, or safety reasons. Members will be notified in advance of any closures.

  14. ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS
    • Drones are permitted but should be conducted respectfully without disturbing other anglers or wildlife.
    • Members are encouraged to report any suspicious behaviour, rule violations, or environmental concerns to the bailiff or management.
    • Any fish found in your possession upon departure from the estate will be deemed to have been poached. This will be treated as a criminal offence unless paid for in full at the abattoir or office.
    • All bass caught can be kept or given to the bailiff. Do not return the bass into the dams or river.
    • Non-compliance with DEPS rules may result in fines, suspension, or removal from the property.
